Constru\u00eddo nos anos de 1920 para sediar a primeira Copa Davis, o est\u00e1dio foi palco da vit\u00f3ria dos \u201cQuatro Mosqueteiros\u201d &#8211; Jean Borotra (1898-1994), Jacques Brugnon (1895-1978), Henri Cochet (1901-1987) e Ren\u00e9 Lacoste (1904-1996), fundador da marca. Os quatro atletas dominaram o cen\u00e1rio do t\u00eanis mundial na segunda metade da d\u00e9cada de 1920 e no in\u00edcio da d\u00e9cada de 1930. Quase setenta anos depois, Gustavo Kuerten emplacou seu virtuosismo tr\u00eas vezes em Roland Garros &#8211; em 1997, 2000 e 2001 &#8211; e estabeleceu um forte relacionamento com a plateia ao desenhar um cora\u00e7\u00e3o na quadra de argila ap\u00f3s sua \u00faltima vit\u00f3ria sobre o tenista Michael Russel, em 2001.
